I’m a 82 years old man. I have a pre-existing disease on my heart so I often go to the hospital.

One day, I suddenly felt ache on my heart and breathing was little bit difficult for me. Since I was live alone, I have no one to consult with and I feel anxious. Although I retain consciousness, I feared that what if I will be die without being noticed by anyone. Also, since I was broken my legs 3 years ago by traffic accident, it took me long time to go hospital. I have no idea how to go to the hospital by myself, so I called an ambulance.

Soon, an ambulance came to my home and I ride on it. While riding on the ambulance and talking with rescue person, my heart ache was gradually weakened. Although my ache was weakened, I was worried about it so I go to the hospital. At the hospital, I took some examinations but any problem was not found. I was really relieved by diagnosed and make sure that my body situation was good. In addition to that, I could asked doctors about medicines and disease, I think it was correct decision to call ambulance and go to the hospital.

However, I also know that some people complain about the ambulance use like me because ambulance is used as a taxi. But, actually, I don’t know why people like me are being blamed. Since I pay for medical insurance, does this mean that we have a right to take medical care on any case? Also, we are not specialists, we cannot judge our health by ourselves. So I think it is appropriate use of medical care including calling ambulance and I cannot understand people who argue the idea of charging  ambulances.
