Let's goin my NPO!!

In this post, I will introduce my original NPO whose name is “Second Home.”

I established this NPO because I would like to make a warm place which every user feel it as their second house.

How this NPO relates to the problem of inappropriate use of ambulances?
First of all, I will explain the reason why this NPO is related to the problem of inappropriate use of ambulance.
According to the research, I found that the fact that the many elderly people use ambulances as taxis. It is because by the effect of increase number of nuclear families, there are many elderly people who live alone and who feel loneliness. So, I thought that if we care their loneliness, we can prevent the number of inappropriate use of ambulances in total.

Mission and Goals

[Mission]

We pursue to realize a society where people help each other and no one left alone.

[Goals]

  1. Fulfill all partners’ hearts by close interaction
  2. Be everyone’s second home
  3. Reduce the number of inappropriate use of ambulances

What’s uniqueness of  “Second Home?”
I think there are three uniqueness for our NPO.
  • Prevent problem occurring

Although there are many NGO/NPOs which stand on one side for one social issue. However, this NPO focuses on problem solving so we decided not to stand on any particular side. Instead, we try to prevent the occurrence of the issue of ambulance‘s inappropriate use. That‘s one uniqueness of our NPO.

  • Only in Tokyo

Considering that we want to provide deep care for our users and that Tokyo is one of the most affected place by inappropriate use of ambulances, we decided to open only in Tokyo.

  • Medical consultation

This NPO have medical professionals and our partners can consult with them anytime. Since we focus on remove the anxious about health of our users and we believe it will be reduce the number of calling ambulances, we provide medical support for our partners.

What we do?

The services we provide is divided four types. First of all, we provide 24 hours’ consultation. As I mentioned above, we prepare medical service that users can contact every day and very time when they want to consult with. Secondly, we prepare daily interaction. We will provide many activities which partners can interact with each other. Since the generation range of our users are wide, users have many opportunities to interact with different generations! For example, elderly people help elementary student with their math homework. Or younger women and elderly women can teach cooking each other. In addition to that, we prepare monthly event. In monthly event, we invite special guests and give useful presentation. There are variety of contents which is on how to escape when we face with natural disaster  or how should we do when we find people who need emergency help. And lastly, we protect our users by cooperating with nearest hospitals. Of course, we can consult with mild disease with our medical staffs. However, if we found the possibility that a user have serious disease, we use our cooperation with nearest hospitals and we immediately cure the person.

How we run ourselves?

We run mostly by charity.Although there are young generations in our users, we decide to collect money from only people who work at job.

As for the advertisement, we use social networking services, posters and so on!

Of course, we are very welcome to newcomers!! Every time you want to join us, please let us know!!

Comments

  1. I really like the name of the NPO you came up with, "second home"! It is very catchy, and clearly expresses the intention of creating a place that will become a place for those who feel lonely. Although the activities are very limited only to Tokyo, I thought it was an efficient idea in terms of providing friendly care to each user. But I think that would create a gap between people living in Tokyo and those living outside of Tokyo, so I hope that in the future, such activities will spread to other prefectures, and that eventually people will not use ambulances for purposes other than their original purpose!

  2. I agree with Manaka that the name of your NGO is heart-warming and appropriate. I like the clarity of the group's purpose and goals, and the constructive activities and projects you offer to try to achieve those goals. I suspect that there would be much more of a need for this sort of service in Tokyo and other big cities rather than in the "countryside" because people in the countryside tend to already be well connected and can probably ask each other for help more easily. I lived in the countryside (Shimane) for most of last year and I found that neighbors were quite close with each other.
